SHORE HAVEN HOUSE, NOEL SHORE ATTRACTIONS
Absorb the astounding views; listen to the roar of the surf from the world's highest tides; swim in the mellow salt waters of the Minas Basin; walk on the beach for miles in an area famous for fossils; walk on the ocean floor and explore the tidal pools as well as the woodlands and meadows; fish for sea bass; follow our Trout Pool Brook to the very special place where it burbles gently across a sandstone shelf and cascades in a beautiful little waterfall to the sea, watch the abundant wildlife (including deer, eagles, quail, pheasants, humming birds, osprey, owls, rabbits, raccoons and foxes), discover the old Acadian house foundation near Evangeline Brook.
The immediate area also offers many interesting activities. The beaches, villages and rich farmland of the spectacular "Noel Shore" are just moments away. Experience a step back in time with the warm hospitality, unique shops, antiques, artisans, crafts, farm markets, quilts and hand hooked rugs, preserves, quality "new-to-you" clothing, fishing wharves, restaurants (from down-home to gourmet dinning), historic churches and museums of seaside villages such as Newport Landing, Sommerville, Noel, and Maintland or the pastoral beauty in the traditional Mennonite community in West Northfield. Excellent guided tours, walking on the ocean floor, detailing the unique geology and local folklore are available.
A great destination for a bike ride or a short drive, the fully serviced picnic park with stairs and a viewing platform is available close by at beautiful Burntcoat Head Park and Interpretation Center, site of the world's highest recorded tides.
Maitland Village, designated Nova Scotia's first Heritage Conservation District with nearly 50 beautiful 19th century homes is an historic ship building village and the home of the world's largest sailing vessel which is chronicled at the Lawrence House museum. Maitland is also home to Riverview Herbs and its delightful café as well as an excellent fine dining restaurant. There are other local museums such as in Selma and at the lighthouse in Walton.
Guests may wish to experience the thrill of the world’s highest tides, "up close and personal", by going rafting on the tidal bore with the Shubenacadie River Runners in Maitland. Some of the many other local attractions include a guided fossil and history tour along a local beach, walking on the ocean floor (dubbed by even our youngest guests as "awesome"), the Shubenacadie Wildlife Park with its stunning new marshland and bird-viewing walk, Mastodon Ridge Museum fossil display, golf, eco-tourism and good local restaurants (including fine dining). Horseback riding and riding lessons are available at several nearby locations. Sea kayaking, guided expeditions including an eagle tour, and outfitters are also available close by in Maitland. Only 15 minutes away at Walton golf on a links course by the sea, Minas View Links.
Windsor, the gateway to the Annapolis Valley, is about 45 minutes away and offers attractions such as the world famous Mermaid Theatre, Haliburton House, a gorgeous restored historic house and home of "Sam Slick" as well as excellent restaurants, from fine dining to family style. At Wolfville, enjoy superb fine dining restaurants and the bounty of the valley farms at the many farm markets and on the edge of town, Grand Pre and the Evangeline National Park. Travel a little further along the Annapolis Valley and enjoy the vistas of golf courses, orchards, farms, vineyards as well as winery tours, whale watching, and the unique lobster dinners on the wharf at Hall's Harbour. Nova Scotia is rich in traditional music. In addition to concerts and festivals there are weekly jam sessions along this shore.
All of this is only 1 hour from Halifax with the world's second deepest natural harbour, a cosmopolitan center, with a wide array of restaurants, world class museums and shopping.
Shore Haven House by the Sea are so far from the hustle and bustle of city life and yet they are still close to all that the city has to offer, if you choose.

With six plus acres to explore, there are a wide range of
opportunities, from relaxing on the deck with a book to more active pursuits such as ocean swimming and beach combing. It's a dream location for photographers and other artists. An organic vegetable and herb garden, a lily pond, flower beds and closed cropped lawns are available close to the house. Groomed paths lead to the saltwater pond and your own private sand and pebble beach, offering endless opportunities for swimming, beach combing, exploring the rocks and tidal pools, beach campfires, bird spotting (e.g. eagles, cormorants, osprey, sea ducks,piping plovers) and animal watching (e.g. seals,foxes, rabbits, raccoons). An all-but-deserted world class white sand beach is a two minute stroll down our private lane.

Beach Haven House is a peaceful retreat so far from the rush of urban life, and yet all of the amenities of the big city are so
close,if you chose.
* A scenic and easy 15 minute drive from the excellent restaurants, museums and shops of the charming village of Liverpool, home of the privateers and world famous Photographer, Sherman Hines. Two large full service grocery stores are found in Liverpool, daily grocery needs are found even closer in village shops.
* The beaches and villages of the south shore, including Lunenburg, a UNESCO world heritage site, are just moments away. Experience a step back in time with the warm hospitality, unique shops (antiques, artisans, crafts, farm markets, quilts and hand hooked rugs,reserves,
quality new-to-you clothing), fishing wharves, restaurants (from down-home to gourmet dinning), historic churches and museums of seaside villages such as Port Medway, Lockeport, Mahone Bay, Mill Village.
* Halifax, with the world's second deepest natural harbour is a cosmopolitain center, with a wide array of restaurants, world class museums, shopping and is about a 1.5 hour drive away.
